My Life, Triumphs and Roadblocks

First, an intro. My name is Jack Nalett. At the present time, I am  56 years old,] joyfully married with 4 children, 3 grandchildren, and one on the way. I am a Vietnam era veteran of the U.S. Navy and California Army National Guard. I say Vietnam era because all of my service was stateside.

I was born to drive. Cars, trucks, heavy equipment, and everything in between. While I was in the service, I was licensed for trucks and ambulance. When I left the service, I drove ambulance for Schaefer Ambulance in Los Angeles. This was during times of racial and political tension in America's cities, where you took your life in your hands getting inside any vehicle with emergency lights. I once had the flashing roof lights shot off my Caddy ambulance while driving in South-Central L.A. on Western Avenue!

When I turned 20, I got my Class A licence and began driving truck in state California. I could not drive interstate until I turned 21, however in that year, I racked up quite a few miles running beween San Diego and the Bay Area. This -gave me valuable experience in preparation for my future. At 21, my stepdad, Vaughn McCort' or Sandy, purchased a new Ford CL9000 cabover semi to run cross country hauling. I will be posting more later, but this was the beginning of my career, spanning 25 years and over 3 1/2 million safe miles, much of it as an independant owner-operator. I retired on disability in 2006, but that is a subject for a future post.

This blog is about not just my life and career, but my spiritual journey, my beliefs and how I came by them. I plan to be brutally honest; there has been a lot of ugliness in my life, but it is all part of what makes me who I have become.  Maybe by sharing these things with you, it will strengthen your faith, or at the least, show you that there is hope in your darkest times. Until next time, may God richly bless you and keep you safe.
Hammy.
